| Dresden Papier GmbH Continues Quality and Productivity Investments
Dresden Papier GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortress Paper Ltd. in Canada, has successfully completed the 2nd stage of investments in quality and productivity specifically for its non-woven wallpaper base production at its PM 4 in Heidenau beginning of August 2009. In continuation of a major capital expenditures program started in 2008, the following sub-projects have been accomplished by well reputed suppliers:
- - TwinFlo Refiner 3 + 4 from Voith Paper Fiber Systems, Ravensburg
- - DuoShake from Voith Paper, Heidenheim / Ravensburg (in 12/2008)
- - Double wet end tail cutter Jet-X PZR by Paprima Industries, Canada
- - complete restructuring on bearings by Voith Industrial Service Paper, Radebeul and new guidance rolls by PM-Tec, Merseburg
- - additional adjustments in the steam and condensate system by Voith Paper, Ravensburg
- - online roll surface cleaning device for coater backing roll by Fastpap Oy, Finland
- - double sided airdryer after coater by Voith Paper/Krieger, Mönchengladbach
- - Special doctor blade for top calender roll by Bonetti S.p.A., Italy
- - Vat for coating material by UMV Coating Systems AB, Sweden
- - Web inspection system by Isravision-Parsytec, Aachen
- - 2nd coating kitchen line from GAW technologies, Austria
- - Stopping device and floor-mounted conveyor by Roll Care Systems, Switzerland
Dresden Papier will continue its investments in quality, efficiency and work safety end of 2009 and 2010 and due to this being prepared to face the changed market conditions for non-woven wallpaper base.  |

Dresden Papier GmbH Invests in Quality and Productivity of its Non-woven Wallpaper Base Production
Dresden Papier GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortress Paper Ltd. in Canada, has successfully completed major capital expenditures at its PM 4 in Heidenau mid-August 2008. Based on a study from Voith Paper Ravensburg, who was also responsible for engineering and time schedule, the following major single objects were converted:
- Increase of refining capacity by TwinFlo Refiner from Voith Paper Ravensburg - New de-watering elements and conversion to ALOX surfacing by IBS Austria - Complete new three-phase drive by Siemens AG, Dresden incl. mechanical drive by Siemens A&D (Flender) - Upgrade quality control system to da Vinci by Honeywell GmbH Offenbach - Fitting of vertical siphons in the pre-drying section by Kadant-Johnson Deutschland - Group separation first Slalom group by Voith Paper Ravensburg - Water-jet tail cutter by Paprima Industries, Canada - Web transfer system Fibron in end section by Voith Paper Krefeld - Energy conservation by optimizing the steam- and condensate systems and new vacuum pumps from Gardner Denver Nash Deutschland - Quality measuring technology (kajaaniMAP and kajaaniFS300) by Metso Automation Leverkusen
The reconstruction measures conduce to the consolidation of market position in producing non-woven wallpaper base for the European and Asian market and will consistently be carried on end of 2008 and 2009.
